ABOUT
Los Resucitados is a hybrid live-action and AI horror short film directed by Esteban Diba and produced by Uveox. Set during Seville’s Holy Week, the film imagines a zombie outbreak erupting in the middle of a religious procession. As chaos spreads through the streets, the protagonist refuses to abandon the religious float he is responsible for. Determined to return it safely to the church, he continues the procession while the costaleros choose to stand beside him. The project combines traditional filmmaking with AI-driven post-production, transforming footage shot with real actors into a cinematic horror world. The film reached more than one million views across social media.

PROCESS
Los Resucitados began as a traditional live-action production. We shot the actors inside an industrial warehouse, creating the performances and physical action on set before rebuilding much of the visual world during post-production. Using generative AI alongside conventional post-production techniques, we redesigned the original environments, transformed costumes, added cinematic lighting and created new visual elements that were not present during filming. AI was also used to generate additional B-roll and entirely synthetic shots, including several of the creatures appearing throughout the film. A major part of the process was maintaining continuity between the original live-action footage and the generated material. Lighting, environments, costumes, characters and camera language had to feel as if they belonged to the same production. The result is a hybrid filmmaking workflow where actors and traditional direction remain at the centre of the film, while generative AI expands what could be achieved visually during post-production.
