ABOUT
The concept for this exploration came about recently, when I learned of the changes to the Off-White creative director role. That news sparked a reflection in me, where I sat down and really tried to understand creativity through the Virgil Abloh lens. What remains the most salient to me about Virgil's approach was the open source approach to creativity, combined with a level of world building refinement that cemented him as one of the world's greatest creatives. With that same spark of inspiration, armed with a more nuanced perspective on V's work, I sought out to explore the mechanics of worldbuilding through the use of isolated spaces as a storytelling device, rather than weaving together a traditional narrative.

PROCESS
The process started with spatial creation. Because the concept of the video centered around world building, my personal challenge to myself was to curate and create a number of spaces, sit with them for some days, and then define what stories made sense to tell in each space. I also kept in mind the audio element of the piece, and selected fantas, a song by Caterina Barbieri. From there, I generated the characters that would inhabit each space, using a combination of real Off-White apparel images, and a fictional, greco-futuristic style. The next step was to combine the characters with the spaces using Seedance 2.5 in Runway. I probably ended up keeping 40% of the generated clips. From there, I edited the clip in premiere pro to finalize the sequence and color grade.
