I've loved mixed reality in film ever since watching Roger Rabbit as a kid but it always looked terrible every time I tried it with traditional techniques. Filming a person on green screen then motion tracking them into an aminated scene always looks bad unless you have a gigantic budget. This film was graded to emphasise the difference between the anime and real worlds but no compositing was done it post. With the knowledge of Runway's tools and the power of a good prompt and character sheet you can have photorealistic characters interacting with anime characters. It's really cool.
