ABOUT

A 100-second speculative commercial for a fictional time machine. THE STORY "Travel to any moment after 10:46 PM." The machine is powered by a fragment of a shooting star that fell when its inventor was seven years old. But there's one limitation: it cannot travel back to before the stone arrived at 10:47 PM. On the inventor's first journey, the one shooting star they longed to see remains just out of reach. Yet that night holds something unexpected: a grandmother's wish and a sky full of meteors. CREATIVE PROCESS I developed the concept, story, visual direction, AI-generated footage, and final edit. To maintain visual consistency, I designed the characters, key objects, and environments in advance, using reference images throughout production. I tested shots at 480p, selected 15 for the final film, and enhanced them for the finished video.

PROCESS

I developed this speculative commercial from concept to final edit, handling storytelling, visual direction, AI video generation, sound, and editing. VISUAL CONSISTENCY The main challenge was maintaining consistent characters, objects, and environments across multiple time periods. I first established fixed designs for the protagonist at ages 7, 18, and 38, the grandmother, the glowing stone, and the time machine. These designs were reused as references throughout image and video generation. I also created a 3D laboratory environment with World Labs Marble to establish consistent spatial relationships and camera compositions. DIRECTING DECISIONS Several scenes were redesigned to communicate emotions more clearly. For the protagonist's lowest moment in 2024, I replaced a quiet scene of packing equipment with a stronger composition showing the character crouching among broken machinery. In the 1995 sequence, I made the adult protagonist translucent and removed the glowing pendant, establishing that the grandmother could not see the visitor from the future. I also chose a watercolor, picture-book-inspired aesthetic to give the film its own visual identity. PRODUCTION OPTIMIZATION I prototyped video shots at 480p using Seedance 2.0 Mini, then selected 15 clips for final upscaling to 2K with Topaz Video Enhance. I processed the time machine's voice by lowering its pitch and narrowing its frequency range to distinguish it from the protagonist's voice. The final product-announcement screen was assembled manually using typography and the established stone design, rather than generated entirely with AI. My goal was to combine emotional storytelling with a controlled, efficient AI filmmaking workflow.
