ABOUT
What if social media were regulated like alcohol? Sosialpolet turns Norway’s familiar state-run liquor store into a shop for digital habits: TikTok on tap, LinkedIn on the shelf, age checks at the counter and algorithm-free alternatives. A fictional public-service brand, built as an AI-generated short film for LinkedIn. The ordinary retail setting makes an invisible system physical, asking what responsible access to social media might look like if attention were treated as something worth protecting. Concept, visual development and final film by John-Ivar Eidsmo.

PROCESS
The starting point was a simple question: what would Norway’s discussion about age limits on social media look like if it became an actual shop? I translated familiar alcohol-retail conventions into a visual system for screen time, algorithms and digital habits. The work combines a fictional brand and retail environment with generated film scenes: stocked shelves, staff, customers and a counter serving TikTok by the minute. The edit lets the everyday details carry the joke, keeping the tone calm and credible rather than explaining the satire. The film was published on LinkedIn, with a companion Sosialpolet website extending the idea.
