ABOUT
Quirky commercial short created for the very first Runway Big Ad Contest
PROCESS
Created for the Runway Big Ad Contest around the fictional "Fizz Soda" brief, we deliberately avoided making a generic liquid-splash montage. Instead, we boarded a high-stakes psychological standoff between a rigid professor and a student, framing a single can of Fizz Soda like a cinematic holy grail. Every shot was boarded around eyelines, escalating classroom tension, and a sudden shift in power dynamics. We threw out dozens of traditional tabletop soda beauty shots and upbeat commercial tropes during early testing. Cutting away the fluff kept the pacing tight and grounded, letting the desperation in the characters' faces sell the product as an absolute human necessity. Selected takes were upscaled in Topaz Video AI and moved into DaVinci Resolve for editorial cutting, rhythmic sound design, and final color grading. We graded the classroom environment with grounded, cinematic contrast so the Fizz Soda can popped naturally within the frame, resulting in a 30-second spec spot that went on to pull 15.7k+ views.
