ABOUT
A cinematic narrative piece from Jewel del Tiempo, a time-travel story centered on 12-year-old Jewel. In “Jewel Meets Virginia,” character, performance, period atmosphere, and visual storytelling come together to create a believable historical world through an AI-assisted production workflow. PDI Studio developed the concept, visual direction, character work, editing, sound, and finishing, with the focus on using the technology in service of story and performance.

PROCESS
The sequence was developed around character and story first. I established Jewel’s appearance, wardrobe, performance, and the historical world before building the individual shots, so each generation had a clear visual and narrative target. Because the piece combines work from multiple AI video tools, the biggest challenge was continuity. Shots were evaluated for character consistency, performance, period detail, lighting, camera language, and whether they belonged in the same cinematic world. Material that changed Jewel’s appearance, weakened the performance, or broke the period illusion was reworked or discarded. Runway, Kling AI, and Veo were used selectively based on the needs of individual shots rather than forcing the entire film through one model. The final performances, pacing, compositing, transitions, sound, color, and finishing were shaped in After Effects and Premiere Pro, with Photoshop used as part of the image-development workflow. The goal throughout was to make the technology disappear behind the character and story.
