"You Kept It" is about realizing that someone loved you quietly all along. That while you said your love out loud, they were holding onto every small moment you'd long forgotten. It's a love letter to the quiet ones. The ones who don't say much, but keep everything. The ones who show up, again and again, without ever needing the credit. Made with Runway, Seedance, Suno, Capcut And it's about a day on a mountain that almost took everything and learning that you can't always fix what breaks. Sometimes all you can do is stay. PROCESS
This project actually grew out of something else. I originally wanted to create a longer story centered around a memory box, and while working on it I had the idea to write an original song around the same theme and turn parts of the material into a music video. In total, there were probably around 50 generations involved, although many of them were originally created for a separate 10-minute film. For the music video, I often used only very short sections from individual generations, selecting and trimming the strongest moments and then restructuring them around the lyrics, rhythm and emotional beats of the song. The mountain sequence was the most difficult part to get right, especially the moment where the character slips. That action often generated incorrectly and required several attempts. I also had to clean up a number of typical AI-generation errors in the final footage, such as duplicated or additional wings, before the shots could be used. The final piece therefore became less about generating complete finished scenes and more about finding the right moments within a much larger pool of material and shaping them into a coherent emotional story.
