ABOUT
An AI music video for my own track. A resort crew in matching coral polos running a scheme after lights-out. Poolside smiles by day; neon hallways, coconut toasts, and a lineup against the wall by night. Directed, edited, and music by NoBanks Nearby. Generated in Runway, cut on my own beat-sync editing engine.
PROCESS
Coconut Schemin' is 9:16, 1080x1920, 24fps, cut on a beat grid, and it went from the first Runway generation to a shipped master in about fifteen hours across five versions. The assembler is the same beat locked Python cutter I use on all of these: a librosa beat grid, storyboard sections that each declare how many beats a shot holds, an EDL that cuts on exact beat timestamps, and frame exact segment renders. What actually took the time was the director pass, not the build. Version four came back near perfect with two specific rejections, and version five changed only those two slots out of thirty six cut boundaries. One was a pool shot that read as obviously generated, so I replaced the concept instead of re-rolling the same idea. The other slot had already killed four takes that put a body in contact with an object, so I made a rule for that slot alone: no object interaction, and both replacement candidates were pure movement. The shipped master is assembled on an MLT timeline and exported with melt, then A/B verified against the beatcut reference render, so the file that ships is provably the cut that was approved. I move fast because the build is automated. The taste is not. Most of those fifteen hours were me saying no.
