I think this is the first time I have truly employed ai as an art medium in the sense that I have used it to make the audience question their stereotypes and perception. This is a stand-alone work that simultaneously serves as a character screen test for my feature in development TOGA VIRILIS. The character this viedo features is trans, and the song they are singing are largely about their trans experience. At the same time, this song can be interpreted as questioning our perception on a broader scale and challenging our expectations of what we think we are about to see and experience. Last but not least, it challenges our perception of ai-assisted works as "not real" art, "not real" film and "not real " music and what we even mean by "real".

PROCESS
A character screen test for my feature in development TOGA VIRILIS. Original song: *Not Real to You*. Used some real footage as finger movement references for this music video in a couple of tricky guitar solo parts. I wrote the lyrics myself and then played around in Suno until it delivered the perfect music and vocal. The character design is based on a body of my original sketches (both analogous and digital) used as references in Nano Banana. I first created one final character image and then used the app for image variation in Runway to come up with many angles/ expressions/ poses. As the next step, I broke down the music track into several logical parts, each between 5 and 20 seconds long. All video generation is done in Runway with Seedance 2.5 using several still images and one audio piece at a time, slightly varying the prompt for camera angles. All the resulting clips are edited together and synced with one master audio track in Adobe Premiere Pro, with some grading and grain added in post As I have already mentioned, I also used real footage (of a friend playing my song) for two instances: when using real footage, I didn't use any audio in references and unchecked audio generation for the clip. The whole video took about 70 generations (both image and video, excluding audio). ChatGPT helped with the prompts and critiqued the final video. I changed a few things based on that feedback. I'd like to thank Runway for making this video possible thanks to their ambassador program.
