ABOUT
2nd Teaser of the short film 狭間 Hazama. A project written, produced and directed by Victor Moreno endorsed by the Swedish ONG Suicide Zero, to prevent suicide. It follows the story of Thea, a young woman in Japan returns to her homeland in the remote woods of Sweden after a traumatic event. There, a life-threatening winter accident puts her in hazama — the Japanese concept of the in-between space — forcing her to confront the ultimate choice between life and death.

PROCESS
Most of the film originated from photographs or video footage I shot myself, using both image-to-video and video-to-video techniques. It’s a hybrid film, roughly 80% AI and 20% live action though most of the live action was processed through AI as well. From the start, the core concept was to build a world where AI and real-life imagery coexist in the same space. Rather than jarring the audience by jumping between two distinct visual styles, the goal was to create a seamless story to spark an open dialogue about perinatal mental health, an issue far more common than we think. Above all, narrative is everything; the visuals are simply a tool to support the story.
