A karmic mirror reveals the soul's past deceit before Enma delivers judgment: the guilty are taken by a burning cart into darkness; the innocent ascend on a radiant lotus toward the Pure Land. Fire and radiance split the screen. Bells fade, names dissolve, and no footprints remain. Did the soul fall or rise? The ending leaves that question open.
